Brian Beck is a coral reef ecologist specializing in the study of community level change over time and in response to natural events. He received his M.S. in Geoscience from the university where he studied geomorphometrics in fossil corals. He received his Ph.D in Marine Studies from the University of Queensland in 2011. Dr. Beck has been working at NOAA's National Centers for Environmental Information since 2014, where he is the NESDIS representative to NOAA's Coral Reef Conservation Program (CRCP). He is also the Data Management Coordinator for the CRCP, developing program level policies in order to comply with all federal data management requirements. Outside of his duties at NOAA, he is looking at reef accretion and how it is influenced by coral community composition in the SE Pacific.
