Javier Villegas Bravo is a Faculty Assistant at UMD College Park in ESSIC as the Satellite Liaison at NOAA. His role is to enhance the use of satellite products by forecasters in the Weather and Ocean Prediction Centers and to inform the satellite community on what forecasters want in products and tools. Javier received his B.S. and M.S. in Atmospheric Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2018 and 2021 respectively. There, he coded and verified the cloud masking algorithm for the NASA Multi-Angle Imager for Aerosols, launching in 2022. In his free time Javier likes to go for runs, play the drums and computer gaming.
