Kriti Bhargava graduated with a Bachelors of Technology in Civil Engineering and minor in Energy Sciences in 2012 from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, Mumbai. Her Bachelor’s Degree Senior paper was entitled, "Impact of Urbanization on Rainfall" based on a research project with Prof. Subimal Ghosh. She received her Master’s Degree in Atmospheric and Ocean Sciences in 2016 at UMD, College Park. She is now a Ph.D. candidate under Prof. Eugenia Kalnay and Prof. James Carton. Currently, She is working on her thesis, which explores methods to estimate and correct online systematic errors in the NCEP Global Forecast System. Her research interests include Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP), Data Assimilation (DA) and monsoons, mainly the application of DA to reduce errors in sub- seasonal to seasonal scale forecasts.
