James Reagan

James (Jim) Reagan is a Faculty Specialist with the Earth System Science Interdisciplinary Center/Cooperative Institute for Climate and Satellites (ESSIC/CICS-MD) at the University of Maryland.  Jim works at the National Centers for Environmental Information – Maryland (NOAA/NESDIS/NCEI-MD) in Silver Spring under NOAA supervisor Tim Boyer.  His work consists of processing hydrographic data for inclusion in the World Ocean Database (WOD) and quality control of WOD-derived products (e.g., World Ocean Atlas).  His current research primarily focuses on global ocean salinity variability, utilizing both in situ and satellite salinity data.  Jim received his B.S. degree in Atmospheric Science from Cornell University in 2008 and his M.S. degree in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences from the University of Maryland in 2010.  He is currently a PhD student under advisor Jim Carton at UMD studying salinity’s role in the variability of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation.
