Maria Zubkova

Maria Zubkova is a Post-Doctoral Associate in the Department of Geographical Sciences at the University of Maryland, College Park. She received her Ph.D. in Natural Resources with an emphasis on Remote Sensing and Geographical Information Sciences from the University of Idaho and her M.S. degree in Geoinformation in Environmental Management from Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Chania (MAICh) in Greece. Zubkova has over 7 years of graduate and post-graduate research experience. Her research interests lie in understanding the complex interaction between climate, humans, and fire. Specifically, her current research focuses on recent changes in global fire activity and their relationship to climate change, population growth, and human conflicts.
