UMD and NOAA are Global Leaders in Remote Sensing Research

A new article in the academic journal Scientometrics found that the University of Maryland had the fourth and NOAA the fifth largest “institutional impact factor” based on their published research on remote sensing. From 1991 to 2010, UMD had 856 total articles while NOAA had 838. The top three institutions were NASA (2,367), the Chinese Academy of Sciences (1,385), and Caltech (1,109).
