GOES-16 records lightning in Hurricane Harvey it makes landfall in Texas. Unprecedented geostationary lightning imaging technology in the Geostationary Lightning Mapper (GLM) provides a continuous view of the total lightning activity over the course of multiple days that supplement high-frequency infrared observations from the Advanced Baseline Imager (ABI) as the hurricane comes ashore.
