Isaac Moradi
Isaac Moradi started his career in meteorology by doing a Master of Science in Meteorology at the Department of Water Resources, University of Tehran. His M.Sc. thesis largely focused on estimating solar radiation from routine meteorological data and also computing solar radiation on tilted surfaces with arbitrary orientations from data measured on horizontal surfaces at the meteorological stations. Right after his M.Sc., Isaac was admitted as a PhD student at Kharazmi University of Tehran. Isaac's PhD dissertation ( titled "Mapping global solar radiation over Iran from Meteosat images") mostly involved in retrieving solar radiation from visible images of the geostationary satellites and also evaluating the results using high-quality ground-truth solar radiation data measured at the benchmark radiometric stations. After his PhD, Isaac continued his work towards developing the national solar radiation atlas of Iran using satellite data. Dr. Moradi joined University of Tehran as an assistant professor in 2007 where he taught a few courses including statistics, water resources and microclimatology. One year later, Isaac moved to Lulea University of Technology in northern Sweden, more than 200 km above the Arctic Circle. During the time there, Isaac largely focused on developing upper tropospheric humidity (UTH) from satellite data observed by microwave instruments (mainly AMSU-B and MHS). Isaac joined ESSIC/CICS-MD in 2011 to work on developing climate data records (CDR's) from microwave satellite data. He is currently an assistant research scientist at ESSIC and works on different aspects of microwave remote sensing including validating and inter-calibrating observations from different microwave instruments (SAPHIR, ATMS, MHS).
