The new Cooperative Institute for Satellite Earth System Studies (CISESS), formerly known as CICS, is hosting this year's NOAA NESDIS Cooperative Research Program (CoRP) Science Symposium at the University of Maryland on August 27 to 29. The CoRP Science Symposium is an opportunity for NESDIS/STAR’s Cooperative Institutes and Science Centers to communicate ongoing remote sensing research and applications.

The Symposium is part of a larger strategy to promote federal and academic partnerships. It targets multidisciplinary research with a focus on graduate students, post-docs, and early-career scientists. Undergraduates are welcome to participate as well. The Symposium also highlights research and application development within NESDIS and its Cooperative Institutes and Cooperative Science Centers, which include CIMSS, CIRA, CISESS (at Maryland & North Carolina) and NOAA-CREST.

The presentations will address the themes of the Cooperative Institutes and the Cooperative Research Program (CoRP) of NESDIS' Center for Satellite Applications and Research (STAR):

Lunch

We will be providing coffee and beverages along with snacks at the breaks but we were not able to stretch our budget to cover your lunches on Wednesday and Thursday. We have only two food places in walking distances so we wanted to provide you with a better option. We have arranged to have the Cloud Cafe provide box lunches that will be delivered to our building so you can share your meal with the other attendees in our 4th Floor Lounge.

CoRP Symposium Lunches

The Cafe offers a nice variety of sandwiches and salads, including vegetarian and gluten-free options (you can also make special requests).  The boxes include a beverage and a freshly baked cookie or brownie, all for $13, which you can pay by credit card. The box comes with your name on it so no mixed up orders. The website is already set up so you can place your orders any time between now and  9:30 am on the day you will be receiving the lunch. Just click on the link above!
