CISESS Consortium Scientist Xiaoyang Zhang and his team at the South Dakota State University Geospatial Science Center of Excellence have made significant improvements to the NOAA Global Biomass Burning Emissions Product eXtended (GBBEPx) during this year’s CISESS Project. They were able to increase the number of fires detected and emissions included in GBBEPx by adding Sentinel-3’s mid-morning data to the afternoon overpass data of the JPSS satellites.
On June 15, an orientation session spearheaded by Faculty Specialist/CISESS Coordinator Kate Cooney was held at the Earth System Science Interdisciplinary Center, welcoming 38 summer interns.
