Assessing Design and Deployment Strategies for Future Microwave-Sounding Missions

CISESS Scientist Dr. Zaizhong Ma and co-authors, including CISESS Deputy Director Dr. Hugo Berbery, recently published a study on the expected forecast impact of future microwave sounding instruments planned under NOAA’s Near Earth Orbit Network (NEON) program. This work was done using the Ensemble of Data Assimilations (EDA) for the Integrated Forecasting System in collaboration with the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF).

SOUP: A Recipe for Managing Ocean Data from the Abyss to Archive

CISESS Scientist Anna Lienesch has recently implemented a new NOAA ocean exploration data user portal called SOUP. As a Sample Data Manager on the NOAA Ship Okeanos Explorer, she is a primary user of this tool, which she helped design, enhance, and test. SOUP may undergo further development to be used for other projects, replacing outdated workflows and streamlining processes.

CREST graduate student and former CICS-MD intern Equisha Glenn has a new journal article that is featured on the AGU website's Research Spotlight. It is entitled "Detection of recent regional sea surface temperature warming in the Caribbean and surrounding region."

Yong Chen Wins Best Paper Award

CICS-MD Scientist Yong Chen was awarded the Best Proceeding Paper award during the 20th International TIROS Operational Vertical Sounder (TOVS) Study Conferences in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.
