Her CISESS Project is funded by the NOAA Global Ocean Monitoring and Observing program (GOMO).

CISESS Scientists at the International Coral Reef Symposium

CISESS Scientists Rebecca Wenker and Rasheeda Alexander attended the 16th International Coral Reef Symposium (ICRS) in Auckland, New Zealand, from 19–24 July 2026, representing the NOAA NCEI Digital Corals team. Both presented posters about their work with NCEI on NOAA’s Coral Reef Monitoring Program Data Archive.

Tom Smith Honored with a DOC Gold Medal

Thomas M. Smith was awarded the Department of Commerce Gold Medal in a ceremony held this week. Tom is a NOAA Scientist co-located with the Cooperative Institute for Climate and Satellites at the University of Maryland (CICS-MD).
